Privacy Policy
How Noula collects, uses, and protects your information.
Last updated: October 2026
1. Who We Are
Anprent operates Noula, a platform that connects families with vetted Care Companions for non-medical help at home ("Noula", "we"). This policy explains in plain words what personal information we collect through our website and apps, why, who sees it, how long we keep it and what your rights are. Two laws apply to it: Québec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Back to contents2. Our Privacy Officer
The person in charge of the protection of personal information at Noula is our Privacy Officer. Write to them at info@noula.app, with "Privacy" in the subject line, for any question, request or complaint about your personal information.
Back to contents3. What We Collect
From families: your name, email, phone and address; the name, age and relationship of the person receiving care, and the care needs you choose to describe, which may include health information such as mobility, allergies or memory; and your emergency contacts. From Companions: name, contact details, address, date of birth, photo, profile, availability and the result of the background check done by Certn; Stripe collects the identity and bank details needed for payouts directly. From everyone using the service: bookings, messages, visit notes, reviews, incident reports and requests for help. Card numbers are entered directly with Stripe: Noula never sees or stores them. We also record basic technical data (IP address, browser, pages visited and times) to run and protect the service.
Back to contents4. Location
A Companion's location is shared only during a visit: from the moment they tap "I'm on my way" until the visit is complete. It is off at all other times, it needs the phone's location permission, and the family of that visit sees it on a map. Noula's team can also see it, to keep visits safe. The Companion can turn the permission off in the phone's settings at any time, and the sharing then stops. We also use the visit address to find nearby Companions.
Back to contents5. Why We Use It
To arrange and provide visits, match families with Companions, take payments and pay Companions, send booking and account messages (by email, and by text message or app notification where available), keep visits safe and handle incidents, prevent fraud and abuse, and meet our legal obligations. We do not sell personal information, we do not show ads, and we do not use analytics or advertising trackers.
Back to contents6. Health and Other Sensitive Information
Care needs can be health information, which the law treats as sensitive. We use it only to arrange and deliver your visits. Only the Companion assigned to a visit and the Noula staff who need it can see it. We never use it for another purpose or share it further without your express consent, unless the law requires it. You decide what to share, and you can change or remove it in your account.
Back to contents7. Automatic Matching
Noula's matching engine automatically chooses which Companion is offered a visit. It weighs distance, availability, the service requested, language, your preferences, the Companion's skills, experience and ratings, and Companions you have favourited or rated well. You can ask us what information was used and the main reasons for a match, ask us to correct any information, and ask a member of our team to review the match.
Back to contents9. Service Providers and Information Leaving Québec
We use these service providers, under their contracts with us. All of them except Certn are outside Québec and outside Canada, so the information they handle for us leaves Québec and Canada: Vercel, in the United States, hosts the website, and every request that carries your information runs on its servers in Washington, D.C.; Supabase, a United States company, runs our database and sign-in; Stripe, in the United States, handles payments and Companion payouts (card numbers stay with Stripe); Resend, in the United States, sends our emails; Mapbox, in the United States, draws the maps of a visit, including the Companion's position during it; Google, in the United States, suggests addresses while you type one; Sentry, a United States company, receives a report when the website runs into an error; Retell AI, a United States company, answers calls to Noula's phone line and places the emergency calls that follow; and the OpenStreetMap Foundation, in the United Kingdom, finds the map position of the address you give when you set up your account. Certn, our background-check provider, is in Canada. Information held outside Canada may be accessible to the courts, police and security authorities of those countries.
Back to contents10. How Long We Keep It
Booking, payment and payout records: six years, for tax and audit purposes. Background-check records: as long as the law requires. Messages and visit notes: while your account is open. When you delete your account, your personal details are removed. We keep only the records the law requires, such as invoices, without your name or contact details; the messages and notes of a visit where an incident was reported, as the record of what happened; and the ratings you gave, without their comments. Our account deletion page lists exactly what is kept and why.
Back to contents11. Your Rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and get a copy, including in a structured, commonly used format; have it corrected; withdraw your consent; have it deleted (you can delete your account yourself in the app or on the website); and, in the cases the law sets out, have it stop being disseminated. Send your request to our Privacy Officer at info@noula.app. We answer in writing within 30 days, free of charge. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Back to contents12. Security
Information travels encrypted (TLS), and our database is encrypted at rest by our hosting provider. Card numbers stay with Stripe, and Noula does not store social insurance numbers. Staff access depends on their role, and administrator actions are logged. No system is perfectly secure: if an incident involving your information creates a risk of serious harm, we will tell you and the authorities, as the law requires.
Back to contents13. Children
Noula is for adults 18 and older, and accounts are held by adults. Noula does not offer child care and does not knowingly collect information about children under 14.
Back to contents14. Changes to This Policy
When we change this policy, we post the new version here with its date and tell you by email before the change takes effect.
